India has joined a select club of 6 nations that operate similar technology. India is the first country in South Asia that operates AWACS aircraft. I’m delighted at the prospect of air superiority and the tactical edge that the Indian Airforce will enjoy post induction of AWACS.
This was something long awaited.
It is a Russian aircraft, fitted with Israeli AWACS system which is tweaked by Indian software coders. The one thing that I’m apprehensive about is how this diversity will reflect on the performance of things. Hope for the best!
Hmmm.......lotsa big words and lotsa big names.....hope they live upto it and hope the great Indian engineers are able to make these different technologies gel together and produce a magnificent piece of technology, providing an edge over our competitors. After all, we are the masters of "Jugaad" :D
