Lenovo Smart Display 7 with the Google Assistant Review

Summary - Good Smart Display & speaker, but could have been way better!

In a recent sale, I bought two of these at INR 9999/-. Here is a quick

This is a Display (7 inch) + Speaker with inbuilt Google Assistant that responds through an always on microphone. Since it is a 7 inch screen, it is quite compact.

Pros
1) Good 7 inch 1024x768 IPS touch display, which will allow you good viewing angle
2) Speakers - 2 x 1.5inch -  5W stereo speakers alongwith a Passive radiator - this makes it loud with a decent punch
3) Privacy - offers dedicated shutters for both camera and microphone
4) WiFi - offers both 2.4ghz and 5ghz connectivity which is welcome especially when compared to only 2.4ghz on Google nest

Cons
1) Compared to Google Nest hub (sold in India) the audio in this is louder, but the sound quality is better in google's device
2) Video Call Quality - this is definitely not great as the 2MP gives pixelated videos
3) the proprietary charging port (same issue in Google's nest) is a downer, even the quality of wire seems shabby
4) Speed - compared to Google nest, this is slower boot time, slower responsiveness as well

All in all a good device! I got this at a low price in offer. I think at 4999/-inr it is a good buy, but anything over this does not makes sense for this device.

As always, you test, you decide. If you do decide to buy this, you may buy it from
