Halo Legends is an animation anthology series bearing a striking resemblance to other similar series such as "Animatrix", "Batman: Gotham Knight", etc. It consists of 7 short animated stories that explore areas of the rich Halo game universe. These 7 stories span the entire history of the Halo Universe. Of all the seven stories my favorites are ‘The Prototype’ and ‘The Babysitter’.
I’ve always been a fan of Halo – the game. So when I heard that a movie on the legend of Halo is coming up, I was excited.
Here’s a quick description (from the DVD) of what Halo Legends is all about: “This sweeping science-fiction saga delves into the rich Halo universe with seven exciting stories (told in eight parts) focused on Master Chief’s mysterious origins, the Spartans’ advanced combat capabilities and the tense rivalry between Spartans and Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODSTs). Created in collaboration with some of the world’s leading animators from Japan, Halo Legends draws you into the center of humankind’s ongoing battles with the Covenant, dynamically depicted in cutting-edge animation styles that delivers breathtaking visuals and gripping adventure. Go beyond the game – and join the roll call of Halo Legends.”
Animation/Design
My rating: 9 on 10
Rich 3D/2D graphics. Highly detailed scenery and the characters. Loved the overall look and feel.
Story
My Rating: 7.5 on 10
Although the plot has 7 stories and don’t go by the rating. They are all good stories in their own right. But, the only thing that I missed was lack of a common character or a strong thread to hold the stories together.
Overall Rating
8 on 10
Overall, if you’re a fan of animation (which I am J) you’ll probably like HALO LEGENDS. If you're a Halo nut, you'll most likely love it.
