I bought this tablet in the month of May from Flipkart. At that time i got a great price offer and also got the cover free with it.

Now that I have used this tablet for over 6 months, i thought of writing a quick review.

The model that this review is talking about is Acer Iconia W4-820 Tablet (64 GB, Wi-Fi). Its official page at Acer India website is Acer Iconia India . Quick specifications for the same are following:

  • Windows 8.1
  • 4th Gen Intel Atom Z3740 Quad-core 1.33 GHz Processor
  • 20.3 cm (8") WXGA (1280 x 800) LCD display
  • Wi-Fi
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 64 GB Flash Memory (internal Solid state drive)
  • 2 Megapixel Front Camera
  • 5 Megapixel Back Camera
  • microSD card slot - support upto 128GB
  • Includes Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013
  • One micro USB port
  • One HDMI port
  • Sensors: eCompass, Gyro Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Accelerometer

As detailed in the specifications earlier, it has an Intel latest gen (4th Gen) quad core processor with 2 GB RAM. The novel thing about this is that this is not android or iOS, it is full windows on a Windows tablet. Isn't this fantastic. It is. You get to run all your windows programs, Office, Outlook, Photoshop, etc, connect all your expandable drives including DVD ROMs and portable DVD writers and to top it all you have a micro USB port with 128 GB capacity. All said and done, the bottom line is that this is a full computer in a 8 inch form factor.

The box packing looks decent. Nothing flashy or out of the place.

The tablet/PC in my palm. Yes it is operable. Not the most convenient form factor, but definitely better than 10 inch versions.

Some of the salient features for which i liked this tablet or PC are:
1)Runs full windows 8.1 (32 bit version)
2)Runs any Windows app like Word, power point, excel, printer app, etc,
3)Battery life of over 8 hours. Overnight on wifi on and office mails syncing this tab dropped only 3% in 9 hours.
4)Touch is nice with the On screen keyboard.
5)Screen clarity is fabulous and it has a zero gap screen so that there is no reflection from the surface below the screen.
6)Screen resolutions is 1280x768 which is more than enough on this screen size. Had it been a full HD screen, i think we barely may be able to read the text on the screen.
7) MS Office student edition (which doesnt have outook) is pre-installed, So good for college students and working executives.
8)Full computer so you can connect any device with it, like bluetooth keyboard-mouse, wireless keyboard-mouse,portable HDD, etc.
9)Plays most of the PC games. I have played Counter Strike, Mass Effect,League of legend, Titan Quest on this, so portable playability for GAMERS
10)Has functional HDMI out for connecting to other displays.
11)Very strong Wifi signal, stronger than my lenovo laptop.
12)Full VLC player for multimedia experience.

Of course all is not hunky dory. There are some challenges as well. Some of the notable ones are:
1)This is not the 3G version with SIM, so only can be used in a wifi zone for internet related work.
2)Also means no calling
3)Since it is a full pc people may take time getting used to going into My computer.
4)Also, the speaker is not the best and the loudest.
5)The microsd port and HDMI port are all open looks bad
6)Lack of availability of accessories in the Indian market

Overall a great VFM full windows tablet which will appeal to people who want full windows experience and no multiple platform problems, and seamless connectivity with Windows phone and your any other windows machine.
